about Josh

Joshua Powell is an Australian born fine art and street photographer who has been taking photographs since 1985. He was first introduced to photography when he took it as a subject in high school and he became instantly hooked.

Josh's first love is street photography, usually in black and white and using a small, unobtrusive camera so he can get up close to his subjects. He is based in the United Kingdom and spends much of his time travelling the UK and Europe, photographing the people and places that interest him.

Josh doesn't believe in following rules or conventions in photography and prefers to experiment with different techniques. While Josh embraces many styles of photography, he is best known for his high-contrast black and white images.
